Three Port Battery Cable
For on range use the ShowDown CPU may require connection to a 12v DC battery. The ShowDown Timer also has two 12v DC battery connector ports. All three connectors may come from a single rechargeable battery. You may use an auto 12v DC battery but weight may be a problem. Or, you may use a smaller 12v DC motorcycle battery.
The
recommended sealed lead acid battery is 6" x 3" x 4"
in size. The brand name is Rhino. The weight is 10 lbs.
The minimum size of the battery used must be 7Ah. This battery may be purchased at a
local motorcycle shop or online at:
www.ApexBattery.com. The part number is SLA-12. The cost is
$21.95 plus shipping from California.
Recharge this battery using a regular 12v auto battery charger. If you set the charging amp switch to 2 Ah of current, this will extend the battery life.
This battery will support the ShowDown system without Timer for several days. The same battery will support a ShowDown system and optional Timer (total of three ports) for 7-8 hours of continuous use.
The
ShowDown system comes with a single port battery cable. You may build your
own three port cable by using the single port cable as an example.
Or, you may purchase a three port cable as shown from Star Computer for $25.00, shipping cost anywhere in the USA is included. Both the one and three port cables require a 2-3 amp protection fuse in the positive cable.
